DVD is wired to the VCR and does not work

DVD player is wired to the VCR, then to the Sony Bravia. I ususally put the DVD in the machine, turn on the VCR and it all works. Someone messed with the TV remote, now the DVD player is working but does not play on the TV screen. I plugged in another DVD player and get the same problem so it's not the DVD but problem is with the TV remote setting. Can't figure out which buttons to push to get the DVD to show on the TV.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, on the Sony Bravia, it should be set to either Channel 3 or AV, Video 1 or Video.

Should this be not corrective, pls post back how the VCR is hooked up to the Sony Bravia, specifically, how many cables and what colors are used.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

The Sony Bravia should have a number of component inputs, so you should be able to hook up the DVD directly to the TV. The only reason for hooking it up through the VCR would be to record a DVD on VHS... but that's for the birds--VHS is old technology.

Each component input on the back of the TV has a number. You then select to view the component you want by pressing the remote control button to change the display (it should show with one you're on... e.g., Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, etc.).

I need to know how to use rm ed007 remote to set up my sony dvd to play on sony bravia tv

The "rm ed007" remote that you mentioned is most likely a universal remote control, which can be programmed to control multiple devices, including your Sony DVD player and Sony Bravia TV.
To program the remote to control your Sony DVD player, you can follow these steps:
  1. Turn on your Sony DVD player.
  2. Locate the code for your Sony DVD player in the code list provided with the universal remote.
  3. Press and hold the "Code Search" or "Setup" button on the universal remote until the indicator light turns on.
  4. Enter the code for your Sony DVD player using the number buttons on the remote.
  5. Test the buttons on the remote to make sure that they are controlling the Sony DVD player as expected.

DVD Player doesn't work on DRC6355N VCR/DVD Combo

With most dvd/vcr combo units there is separate wiring. When I use my emerson combo unit I have it wired that I have to be on different inputs on my tv to view a dvd and a vhs. On some units the vcr portion is wired via a regular cable line, while the dvd portion is wired with the yellow, red, and white component cable. Try inserting a dvd and scrolling through your tv inputs until you find the picture or check your wiring to ensure nothing has come loose. If that has no result you could try wiring it differently if possible to eliminate that as a possibility.

Can't receive proper dvd/vcr signal

Your Toshiba TV uses the American NTSC standard.

Your DVD/VCR uses the Australian PAL B/G standard.

Unfortunately the two are not compatible as they stand, but there may be an option in the DVD/VDR menu to force the output to NTSC. This varies from make to make.

Another option would be to modify your main DVD player to make it multi-region so it will play ALL of your DVDs. Some models can be modified with a simple handset code, some can be modified with a software update, and others need an internal modification.

Post your make and model, and I can advise you on modification.
