Question about Acer TravelMate 2303WLCi Notebook

1 Answer

Sound & USB

I have an Acer Travelmate 2350 notebook, problems are sound and USB. All drivers are loaded correctly and report no errors, device manager says working properly. Once connecting any USB device, the lights of the device go on but notebook fails to detect. Tried device on different PC and working. With sound all drivers are loaded, it detects that it is using a realtek sound card, the speaker shows at bottom right of screen, yet when trying to adjust volume, the volume control is grey and cannot be adjusted, HELP!!!

Usb ports can be difficult at times, as they get stuck in a cycle from last peripheral connected. The best thing to do is go to right click on My computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager and in the harware list will be your usb controllers. right click on them individually and select uninstal, then restart your notebook and they will re install themselves, that should clear that. Next the sound, if you are unable to change anything, then the driver is more than likely corrupt. Again follow above proceedure and look down list for sound, video & game controllers, click tht'+' to Realtek drivers if thats your sound chip and right click and uninstall. Restart your notebook again and again the sound driver should re install itself. If you still have a driver problem go to acer site as the drivers may need updating. http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/tm_2350.html

Im assuming your on XP and not Vista,it could be a registry problem, but thats a windows repair job meaning install windows on top of original version, when you said no problems shown did you check the drivers using the directx diagnostic command, as this can sometimes show up the fault, apologies if you have tried this but other than a windows repair, you have done all you can.

Start>run, then type 'dxdiag' and hit enter and go to the sound and other devices tabs

The USB Ports on my ACER TravelMate 2350 Series Laptop, I have deleted the USB Port files from Device Manager and the machine reinstalled them when I re-started but it didn't change anything. I downloaded...

Hello,

I'm guessing your USB ports don't work or does it always ask you to install them. If you have your Windows XP license key at hand, please try downloading and installing the following...

Acer TravelMate 2350 XP Chipset Driver

Reboot. It might ask you to do a reactivation, or not.
Please recheck if your USB ports still work. If not, restart your machine, hit F8 continously until you get many options - choose the option "Safe mode" and press Enter. Check if it picks up USB in this Safe mode.

What you can also try, is that you have 3 different USB 2.0 ports on your machine. Try each one separately and see if one of them works. I would also recommend to see if the USB device you are trying to use is actually functional.

No sound

First, open the control panel, go to the system tab, go to hardware tab, then device manager. Scroll down to the bottom of the box to where it says sound video and game controllers. See if you have any issues there. If you do, they will have yellow exclamation points or red x's. Check to ensure that the drivers are installed. If not, re-install the driver. If it says the component failed to start, try uninstalling and re-installing it. Hope that helps.
