Question about NetGear WG111 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter

Hp laptop dv6000 series won't recognise netgear wg111v2 wireless adaptor

I am having a problem connecting to the Internet through my netgear wireless adaptor. i have spoken to my ISP tech support and they advised that it was something to do with my HP laptop. I have a toshiba laptop as well that connected fine and I can access the internet through that. However my HP laptop is more powerful and I want to connect to online games. There is a default wireless network connection in control panel. When I type in the key (26 characters)via my ISP's connection disc for additional computers, it gets so far then brings up an error referring me to a security document on able to logon to the internet via dial up which I still have connected. I am running Trend micro penicllin security software for virus protection. How do I check if there is something blocking connections to NETgear? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hi Etaf,

I have solved my own problem but thanks for your interest. I went back to my isp installation disc and used the advanced troubleshooting tab. I downloaded the drivers for the netgear and the modem and I am now connected and on the internet downloading away. It created a second wireless connection group in control panel under the network connections section.
    Thanks again

The blue light on my wg111v2 in not flashing. is it because i did a system recovery on my pc with the usb plugged in ?

You will need to install the drivers for the wireless adaptor. The flashing blue light simply indicates that there is activity (communications) with a wireless access point.
You can find the drivers for it here;[sku]=WG111v2&download_url=

My Netgear 54 Mbps WG 111 wireless adaptor briefly connects with my Access Point, but then disconnects as soon as the link is established. This happens intermittently every 3-5 seconds. I've already...

In this case follow the steps:-
a)Try another computer or try all the ports on the same computer.
b)If the problem still presist then try to run the computer on a safe mode and check the connectivty.
c)Upgrade the drivers of the adapter from the netgear website.
Following direct links will be useful as the instuctions of upgrading the drivers are enlisted in there:-
For WG111v1 or WG111(Version 2.1):-

NETGEAR Wireless G USB Adaptor Problems

I contacted Bigpond after my whole internet collapsed due to my amature abilities in fixing the internet. >_<" yet they fixed my internet connection by disconnecting my current (DLINK DIR-300) router from the network. hmmmm... the technician also confirmed that my current broadband modem (2WIRE 2071-A) isnt capable of supplying a shared connection to more than one computer!! she also directed me towards a modem with an inbuilt wifi router that "supposedly" is the best option right now. (2701HGV-W) I'm a bit shaky and the stupid NETGEAR adaptor problem still exists - im willing to buy the new modem if its guaranteed to abolish this problem and give me a better internet wise outlook - please any suggestions will be appreiciated =)
