A few months ago I noticed the following: I would load the washer, start it by pulling the knob walk away then after I thought the load was done I would open the lid and the washer would still be full of water, so I would have to hit the lid for the cycle to complete itself it would fill but not do the cycle. Now the washer is not doing anything at all, it's not filling, or anything. When I load it and select the cycle nothing happens. No noise, no water nothing.A few months ago I noticed the following:

Rinse on most washers is cold water your wash cycles can be cold hot and even warm. Problem You may have is a bad water feed valve Or Timer and possible bad wire harness at motor to timer
check water valve Turn washer to regular wash cycle pull knob on will washer fill ?
if water starts to fill then change washer temp if washer has this.
if water comes out on all settings water valve is fine.
Check the water both hot and cold that it is turned on;at faucet.
Your Kenmore Most likely has a bad water valve check for hot water side clog or not working.
You have a timer problem, the contacts are welded in spin mode.
This is almost always caused by advancing the timer by hand when the dial is pulled out in the "ON" position, causing arcing of the contacts.
YES IT IS A FAIRLY EASY FIX AND SOUNDS LIKE you have diagnosed correctly... go to a site called www.sears.com then click the parts direct link up top as they sale everything...
once on the parts direct link type in your model number in the upper left box and pull down the menu in the right box and click model numer if you got the correct model number a part diagram will come up and click on the box that has your timer and scroll down to timer it will give you availabilty as well as a price to order online.... good luck to you
You can use the knob to turn the washer to the correct cycle, and then use a pair of long nose pliers to gently pull the center hub out to start the washer. This is of course only a work around. I'll post more if I figure out how to fix this as well.
There should be a spring clip that holds the timer knob on. It or the timer knob may need replaced. Here is a picture of the timer knob and the spring clip. Sure hope this helps and best wishes.
Hi, Behind the knob there is a U shaped keeper. Pull that out and remove the knob. There should be teeth on both the knob and the inner dial. I have seen one or the other or both have the teeth ware away. See if this is the case. Part # WH01X10061 for the knob &Part # WH11X10033 for the dial. i hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
It does not turn on when I pull out the dial.
