Re: rca 52 inch rear projection
This is a problem common with some RCA/GE TV's.
The fix in the past was to install a capacitor between ground and pin 15 of the microprocessor which keeps a data signal riding on the video stream from muting the sound on most stations. By installing this capacitor, you would be disabling the closed caption feature so that feature would no longer work. An authorized RCA TV repair shop may be able to give you more information.

if you remove the signal either being HDMI or Av Cables from the source are the bars still there ? if they are id suspect a signal board problem . if there not try unplugging your signal source for 5 min's and then do a restart if problem still exists then contact your service provider for further assistance .
Most likely Capacitors cp150, CP120 and CP114 need replacement. You can get the repair kit at www.tvrepairworld.com under the RCA reapair kits catagory bottom of the page. The kit contains the capacitors and detailed instructions
First check to see if your tv is on a fixed mode also ( if you have this feature) make sure your speakers are turned on , you should be able to access these in your audio settings, on the tv. If that does not work try unplugging your tv wait 5 min. and plug it back in. All else fails buy a receiver and hook up your audio that way.
First unplug the unit and leave it for about 5 min.,then plug the unit in and see if you have sound,if not check to see if the speakers are on in menu,if they are on,sounds like the outputs or maybe the e prom.
Your set uses the 195 series chasis. The only thing I can think of which would make the channels scroll by themselves is a contaminated PC board and pushbuttons behind the buttons on the front of the set. This is usually the case when spray cleaner or some other fluid is sprayed or spilled on the screen, and it drips down onto that board. To prove this, remove the back cover and on the top of the main chassis, where the top of the picture tubes are, is a small PC board with the remote reciever and a couple of jacks. The smaller jack is for the speakers and the larger jack is for the front panel PC board. Unplug the larger connector which goes up to the front PC board and then turn the set on with the remote. If the set works normally, the front PC board will have to be removed and cleaned or repaired (or just leave the jack unplugged and work the TV from the remote only). If you do not have any experience working inside projection sets then allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.
