My washer is a top loading Hotpoint and the washer works fine in washing cycle but when the timer goes into the spin cycle the washer stops and just makes a humming sound like it's stuck.

Hi,

I have the same problem. My washer's model is GE WBSR3140GWW. It looks like it went through the wash cycle but would not spin. There's no soap or water in the tub, just wet. I opened the front panel and there's is a green LED light that keeps flashing 9 times and a pause. What's wrong with my washer?

How do you clear a clog from the drain pump - If the water is draining out from the tub but not spinning the clothes dry would a clog cause this?

Kenmore topload washer 70 series heavy duty will fill with water and start the washing cycle but when it gets to the drain and rinse cycle it wont go any further on any washing cycle

The lid switch controls the rinse and spin cycles.
If the lid switch is bad the cycle fails to advance.
Replace your lid switch.

Washer wont pump water unless in spin cycle

it is not supposed to pump water unless it is in the spin cycle. On most topload washers the motor turns one way for the agitate cycle and then the motor reverses during the spin/rinse cycle which in turn reverses the pump and causes it to pump the water out.

If it is a topload whirlpool or kenmore, you may need a new lidswitch or motor coupler. What do you mean you push the drum to one side?

Do you hear the motor activate during the expected spin cycle? If yes, then there might be a gearbox or clutch assembly issue. If not, it might be as simple as the safety switch not being engaged as the rest of the cycles might operate properly even if the safety switch is not engaged.

If the washer totally shuts down when the spin cycle begins, look at the safety switch circuit.
