Customer has lost his power supply cord. where can he purchase another cord. power cord is three prongs.

  • Hi, I can help.

  • For the Radio Shack TRC-447 this is just a standard 3 PIN DC cord. Many CB's use the same cord and they are interchangeable. Some Cobra, Uniden, Radio Shack use the same cord. Texxcomm is a great place to get parts from.

I have a Midland 75-822 that I run off adapter power all the time. How do I turn off the battery save function? With it pulsing the power on and off I miss the firt syllable when someone transmits.

  • Their is no power save mode on this CB in the terms I think your thinking of. There is a high and low power that deals with how much power the CB puts out when transmitting that will make your battery last longer but this would have no bearing on the issue you are having.

  • If you are using a power cord all the time then remove the batteries from the CB until you need them. There are two thumb clips you pull down on and pop the compartments off (one is for rechargeable and one is for regular Alkaline batteries).

  • If the CB is actually powering on and off you have a power feed issue such as a bad connection, a failing power feed socket, a weak inline fuse on the power cord about to blow or something internal is malfunctioning.

  • Hope this helps.

I have a Midland CB Car with no mike or a car power pluge, the model # is 70 - 336B and the serial # is 760408

Your midland CB will use a standard 4 pin wired CB plug which is most common for most mics sold today. Your power cord will be a standard 3 pin CB power cord which again is most common with CB's today. You need not purchase a "radio specific" cord or mic. Cobra, Uniden, Midland all the same mic pin out and power cords. Good luck.

I have a midland 1001z I want to use it in my home is it possible to use an inverter and ground the CB thru my home electrical?

You can use a 13.8V DC power supply. If your CB is strictly stock a good 3 amp power supply will be fine. But if you do any power or modulation mods on it then go up to a 5amp power supply. The negative wire on your CB going into the power supply will serve just fine for a ground for a stock CB. If you start running any power then ground the CB again from the metal chassis to a pipe or maybe the hose faucet outside using a 10 gauge solid copper wire or copper braid strap. Many people run a mobile CB in their home. It's the same as the car accept you will run things from that power supply. If you have any further questions feel free to ask.

The front end protection diode has probably failed, you'd need to ship in for the repair. See dodgem250.com

Im looking for a plug to put in a wall socket and im trying to use an older cobra29 cb radio. Can you help?

Hey AlexJacob

a mobile cb radio like the cobra 29 requires 12V DC, to plug the radio into the wall you need a Power Supply. A small 5 amp power supply will help you. Their is no plug that goes Directly from a Mobile CB rado into a wall. You will need to plug a power supply into the wall, Then take the power chord (red and black with 3 prong [o oo] and connect red to red on the power supply and black to black on the power supply. Unfortunatly a cheap power supply will be $50+ check your local radioshack

If it is a CB radio it is limited to what all the other cb radios do. You can get them "tuned up" but its illegal and depending who does it can harm the radio.

My Cobra 29 ltd classic

Hello MyPete,

You have some form of short circuit in your CB, most likley I would suspect the Power supply or the RF Power Output Amplifier. Here are some basic instruction on how to tell wher the smoke is coming from.

1) disconnect and remove your CB from your vehicle and put it on a workbench
2) remove the cover from your CB and expose the circuit board to view
3) connect your CB to an external 12 volt power source and antenna or a dummy load
4) power up the CB and determine where the smoke is coming from then turn off the power supply to the CB
5) At this point you will need a schematic of your CB (get one from www.servicemanuals.com)
6) find the point on the schematic that relates to the point where the smoke is coming from
7) using a ohmmeter determine which component and or components are shorted
8) replace the shorted and or malfunctioning components.
9) test the system (power on, transmit and receive)
10) close the unit back up
11) reinstall into vehicle
12) run tests again.

This should help

Thank you
