To enter the service menu (use the button on the set)turn on the tv, then turn it off, using remote enter 2, 7, 1, then mute with in 5 seconds. Then press 9 and select V-S, display chnages from V-S and V-P. Then use channel up and down to adjust. When down use the power on the set to turn it off.

Service menu mode

You should first check the output voltages comes out from its main power regulator section; and to rectify the cause of this shut down first. Then only, there is any need to enter its service mode. If you're sound in electronics, and wish to get more details, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic / Time slide, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name/model number/IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window. Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many brand TVs are given in detail.

Mitsubishi VS-50803 Big Screen TV - Trying to hook up an HDTV cable box, I was told to hit: menu, 1, 3, 7, 0 - to get to the service menu and switch DTV over to HD and that would solve my no signal...

First please confirm actual model number on rear of set.

Something is not right here, I am looking at Mitsubishi material downloaded in my computer; shows all codes for sets up to 2004. VS-50803 is a VZ6 Chassis made in 1998 and I doubt it is HD set, if it is one of the early ones it will have beneath the HD input vert sync and Horz sync---those required a special box from Mitsubishi etc.

Set has 3 hidden menus:
1. Option menu (for hard reset)= Menu 1,3,7,0 enter
2. Circuit adjust menu= Menu 2,3,5,7 enter
3. Convergence adjust menu= Menu, 2,3,5,9,enter (#4,5,6 on remote then change modes)

Does the DTV input have the two vert, horz jacks as well?

First is the Option menu is really only for a hard reset of the entire set, if you engaged it you may have de-converged the set.

The adjust menu is for height, width etc

The convergence menu is for convergence.

If you did something and did not save it, unplugging set should put it back to before what you did.

In the OPTION MENU WHAT DID YOU SELECT AND DID YOU HIT ENTER WHEN YOU FINISHED?

Zenith tv picture is larger than screen

Hello
There are Horizontal and Vertical size controls behind the back cover that need to be adjusted using a hand held tool. This adjustment requires a trained tech. High Voltage from the set is dangerous.
However, there maybe some limited controls that may help through the on screen menu.
To get into the setup menu, you need the original Remote that came with the TV.
Hold the Menu Key down until a box appears in the corner of the screen, then press 9,8,7,6 Enter. this takes you to the service menu. Just scroll through the items to find Horiz Size and Vert Size.
Good luck

Service Menu Code

Its unlikely that the purple splotches can be cured from the service menu.

Assuming your TV is the Magnavox 20MC4304 combi, then the tv does not have a service code. There is an alternative though.

Details can be found in the service manual:

Horiz adjustment on magnavox 20ms233s

I can tell you genericaly what the fault is. I have not worked on your particular model, or have the service manual for it.

It is not an adjustment. There are some electrolytic capacitors that typicaly go off value with age. These would be located in the horizontal scan amplifier area.

The set will have to be properly serviced in order to bring it back to normal operation. This is not something you can fix yourself.

Convergence problem w/ red horizontal only-WS-65807

Do not try to adjust anything yet!! Adjustments do not get out of alighnment all of a suddenly. The convergence adjustments are there to do minor aging alighnments. I would first check for bad solder connections on the convergence IC's first.

Smart lock access code on tv

A model number for your Magnavox TV would be helpful because the Parental Control Reset procedure varies. There should be a sticker on the back of the TV showing the model number. If you have a newer LCD model, the unlock code is usually 0711. Ignore any "Incorrect" warning and enter 0711 again. Then set or clear the Parental Access Code.
