Question about Lexmark X1150 All-In-One InkJet Printer
That's the "encoder strip" which tells helps the printer cartridges know where they are. It runs the length of the printer and runs through the cartridge carrier. There should be some places to attach it on either side of the printer, although you they may be difficult to reach without opening the printer by removing some screws.
