I have a Pioneer DEH-P8500MP that is about four years old. About two months ago I tried to open the face to tinker with the audio settings (only accessable with the face open) and the unit shut off. The face would then close and the unit would power back on, then the face would attempt to open, and it would shut off again. The cycle will continue until I pressed the open button before the face would open to cancel the open command to the unit. Does anyone have any ideas on a fix, or should I just invest in a new head unit for my car?
I also have had this unit for over four years. the exact same thing just happened to me yesterday. i was thinking maybe it is the motor that opens the face. has anyone found an exact solution for this problem yet?

It usually means the contact aren't meeting completely. I just grab the face and move it gently til the power comes back on. then, I press the button to open it up so that I can purposely move the plate and carefully line it up again and it should be fine as long as you don't keep removing the face.

Tried to look at Australia's website and no avail. I have written Pioneer twice now and they have not responded back about these units having these problems. rediculous.
that ribbon to the face plate was exactly my solution THX!
