Make sure you are using the latest driver and software for the card. If you haven't already done so, I would also suggest trying the card in another computer, and a known good card in your D600, to see if the problem stays with your computer or follows the card. If it follows the card to another computer then it is most likely a problem with the card itself. If other known good cards also fail in your D600 it might be something with the D600 card slot. If the slot is the problem then I would recommend contacting Dell tech support. Larry Dell Customer Advocate

Please what is Wifi and where can i find the button to turn it on or off.

WiFi is a wireless connection, if you have a wireless router and it is connected to the Internet, then you can connect to the Internet using the wireless card in your D600.
If you don't have a wireless router, then you can connect to the Internet at a free WiFi hot spot at locations such McDonalds, Starbucks and the airport.
This model D600 may not have a wireless card installed.
If it has it will be an Intel {ro wireless card. Check the Device Manager - Network Adapters, if you do not see a wireless adapter then you do not have a wireless card installed.
If you have a wireless card and the wireless driver is installed the you are ready for wireless connection. There is no button to turn on the wireless card, it will be ready to use.
If you require information on setting up your own wireless network, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

I have a Dell Lattitude D600 that is not recognizing the ethernet cable plugged into it. I went to "Network Connections" and noticed that there is only a wireless connection and not a LAN. In the deviced...

Yes, LAN is different from the Wireless network.

Chances are, the driver for the ethernet card is not yet loaded or somehow got corrupted.

What you can do is to get the install disc or acquire the correct ethernet driver from Dell's support website. Install it into your PC and then let us know if you need further assistance.

My dell latitude d600 is not recognizing any wireless connections. I believe the switch is at top of the keyboard and it doesn't seem to be working. Any advice

if it is not seeing any wireless networks, the wireless card may be defective, try having it tested, or check the device manager to make sure the drivers are installed correctly for the wireless network adapter

Lan connection has disappeared from network but wireless works

Have you run the Dell Diagnostics test? reboot the computer and hit the F12 key, scroll down to the diagnostic option and run the test, it will check hardware and memory etc.

Can't recognize the wireless router

Here's a few things you can try:

1. You should see the wireless icon in the system tray, bottom right of screen (tiny computer with rays to the right of it)

2. Try the correct wireless function key: hold down Fn key and press the F key with wireless mast picture on it. (possible F4 or F8). This will turn on and off the wireless card.

3. Check if wireless card is installed in Device manager as follows:

click on Start, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, select System, then Hardware Tab. Click on Device Manager.

Expand "Network Adapters". You should see a wireless card listed. If not, you've installed the wrong wireless driver...

Uninstall the one you installed and look for the correct one on Dell site.

WIRELESS CARD FOR LAPTOP

Hi

Your did not provide any info on which card you have or wish to install; USB, PC Card, or internal mini PCI card.

For mini PCI cards, first you have to open up the D600 laptop and install the Hardware (ensure to connect the antenna cables) then power-up and install the software (drivers and utility).

For USB and PC Cards, follow the device manufacture's recommended steps. Generally, for USB devices, the software (drivers and utility) needs to installed first before the hardware is connected.

If you have successfully installed the hardware and software (driver/utility) you can scan, choose and connect to an available wireless access point or wireless ad-hoc setup. This can be done through the wireless manufacture's utility or from Windows Wireless Zero Configuration utility. If you use the manafucature's utility, Windows Wireless Zero Configuration utility will not work; will not scan or list available wireless network.

Dell D600 - Linksys wireless router/adapter

Seems there is a problem with the Linksys since there is not any lights coming on. Did you plug it into a switched outlet in the wall? Does it work if you plug the Linksys into an outlet in another room?
If you can get it to light up, the way you will access it is through your web browser. Type in 192.168.1.1 into your web browser and a login in screen should pop up.
