Hi There , I've had a NAD 5425 CD Player for donkey's years but just
recently when I insert a CD and close the tray the player immediately
ejects the CD. The next day it will work like a charm again and then at
some stage start spitting out the CDs. Took the cover off and noticed
that the motor will not spin up on insertion.
Is there some sort of switch which is activated when the tray is closed,
if so where will it be situated ?
I really don't have the means for a huge repair bill but am willing to
tackle basic repairs myself. ( Replaced enough display bulbs over the
years )
Read another post where the person gave the player a smack ... it works, but as he mentioned it's not a long term solution. Does anyone have a picture of where the peg & microswitch is situated ? Regards, Bernard.

Hey petraman, you're a star !! Unit's been playing for a couple of
hours now, no hiccups. I never had a drawer belt so made one up with
some o-rings & super glue...sanded over the join to make it smooth
all around. Will order one during the week. Also got the remote working
after 5 years of nothing, just stripped and cleaned everything. One
happy puppy here, no more rejection.
You don't know anything about Rega Planar 3's do you ? The player plays
the record for about 10 minutes, slows down, stops then reverses
direction. Plays the LP backwards !! Don't laugh, I've already had some
weird looks from people here when I mention it. Rega's site suggests a
motor replacement or a motor upgrade. It hasn't had heavy use & I
always rotate the glass by hand to assist the spin-up.
Thanks again for your help with the CD. Cheers for now, Bernard Rother.
PS Still using my original vintage NAD 3020 Amp...gorgeous.
Have the same problem but have no idea how to change the belt and where to find one...
