Hi Doug, you already diagnosed your set when you said it flickered like a dying light bulb, your LED backlights have failed and need replacing, you should be able to get parts from shopjimmy, stay away from ebay for parts
sounds like your bulb is shot-remove back panel to find-take out and take to tv shop for replacement-use gloves on new bulb when replacing as you should with any bulb-hand oil diminishes life of bulbs.
Hello, it sounds like the color wheel may have failed. Was there any noises, like a high pitch sound before it went out? If the color wheel isn't turning at proper speed, the set won't start up by shutting down the lamp protection circuit.
your bulb has reached the end of its life (at least this is what your tv thinks) you need to replace the bulb and or make the think you did. (there is a reset in the service menu for the bulb)
sounds like the bulb warning indicator is telling the tv that the bulb needs to be replaced. you may need to replace the bulb but for now go into the service menu and reset the bulb .
Not the light engine. But it could be the power supply. I've seen a few than pass "dirt" power to the ballast and damage it. Have a peek at the ballast, there's a big 47uf, 450v capacitor on it. If it is swollen, it's a dead give away. You need both. I hope this was helpful.
Listen closely. The tv should make a high pitch whine as it turns on. If it does wait and see if it tries this a few times. If yes then check the bulb, I have seen cases where the lamp shoves the power connector back into the set. If the tv starts with a grown or heavy vibration noise, then your color wheel may have broken and needs replaced.
Identifying the correct lamp code
Before placing an order online, you must identify which lamp code you need.
The lamp code is located usually on the left side of the TV
