I would try the following steps, then contact HP (if these don't work, chances are it's hardware related).
1) Remove the battery and power cable. 2) Hold down the power button for 3 seconds. 3) Reattach the power cable and battery. 4) Try to boot again.

best way is to just try out the battery on another laptop, or try another battery on yours. If the laptop is not very old, and I suppose yours isn't more than 2 years old, your battery shouldn't be dead.

My hp pavillion dv4-1220us laptop, won't start up...I press the power button and it turns on for a couple seconds and then turns back off....

1) Is it the battery, power up using the power supply.

2) When the power supply is plugged in, is there a charge light/led (could by a bad power supply not charging or providing a good connection)

3) Is the CPU over heating? Check the vents underneath are they clogged with dust?

After this, you're getting into internal faulty component issues and need someone to look at it.

Zd7000 mobo not powering up

I've found this particular issue to be common with the zd7000 and zd7000a (the 'a' model especially. For whatever reason, the battery tends not to make good contact no matter what you do, and if the motherboard sees you have one, it uses it. This would be fine, but if the battery loses contact, AC power doesn't come up fast enough.

Sadly, the only realistic solution for the lay-user is to place the computer on a flat, steady surface, preferably something that assists ventilation, and keeps the battery stable and as immobile as possible.. Once you stop thinking of it as a laptop and start thinking of it as a portable computer, it tends to make living with it much easier.

''My HP Pavillion ZE5300 Laptop Doensn't Come On At All!''=v.v=

when you press the power button, does any light flash for 1 second?

remove the memory, hard disk, cd writer from the laptop. then try to switch on again. do it using the power adapter.

if it doesnt come on then its an internal problem. you will have to open the laptop case and remove all parts for test

good luck

Hp Pavilion zd7000 turns on and off with different colored screen

The graphics chip needs resoldering (reflow). Got the same laptop in for repair yesterday. At first when power cord plugged in all LEDS stay, hard drive spins but fans don't work and nothing on screen. A bit later everything's dead. I've seen too many HPs with poor soldering issues. can't really say they're making good laptops these years.

Laptop HP Pavillion zd7000 (model zd7058cl) does not turn on

May be this sound crazy, but helpful to me in many cases.

Unplug all easily detachable parts and press turn On key for 20 to 30 seconds. Again resemble it and try to turn on. I hope it will work fine. if not don't waste your time and contact to local or online repair center.

Cheers
John
