My ps2 will not recognise disk changes for 2 disk ps1 games

I have a few ps1 one games with 2 disks, both disks will work if they are put in the cosole at start up but when you reach the part of the games where you are prompted to switch disk the ps2 always says it is the wrong disk. This happens with all 2 disk games I have. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Getting a disc error when turning on the ps2 with ps2 games, but it works with ps1 games...!

Theres a wheel in the disc drive that controls the elevation of the lens. To mod your ps2 to read burnt ps2 games ONE would alter the height of the lens by adjusting the wheel ever so slightly. There are online tutorials in the precise adjustments for different disks. (one height reads only ps1 games, another height reads ps1 and ps2 games, and one more height reads ps1/ps2 and burnt ps1/ps2 games) Your best bet would probably be to just purchase another ps2 used, but if you want to do it yourself, you can.

2 PS1 games in almost perfect condition arn't working on PS2

Try wiping the disks in a circular motion with a cotton t-shirt, tissue or cleaning cloth, then try again. If it still doesn't work, try a PS2 game. If it works, try another PS1 game. If the other PS1 game doesn't work, the PS1 part of your PS2 system may be broken. Your PS2 has, inside of it, a miniaturized PS1. If that mini-PS1 breaks, you can't play PS1 games. If the PS2 game doesn't work, you probably need a lens repair. If the other PS1 game works, then your games are defective and you should get new ones.

Had ps1 game resurfaced, no longer works on ps2

Sounds like you need to get your money back ..the resurfaceing can also do more bad than good
But a little trick lightly rub a crayon over the disk ,,old pantyhose works great rub it off from center out then try your disk ,,have saved many good games that way

Will play ps1 game but not ps2

The PS2 has two different lasers, one for CD games and one for DVD games. The tuning for each is independent. If DVD games are working and CD games are not (backups or originals, PS1 or PS2) and cleaning the CD laser doesn't work and everything's connected together well then you may need to tune/align the CD laser. Just go to Lycos.com and type in 'PS2 laser alignment'. My favorite is the one from Sweden.

Playstation 2 slim

you might want to get a long q-tip and gently put alcohol on it and swap the lens.then have another tip ready to dry off. ps2 games are basiclly a dvd . and you can find info about a lawsuit that sony has against them for not being able to read dvd's.
