Question about Samsung HCN436W 43" Rear Projection Television

3 Answers

Green Picture Hi. I have had the Samsung HCN436W for a couple of years now and it's been agreat tv, but recently the picture started to flicker green. The whole picture would look like it was in black and white but with a green tint, but now the picture doesnt just flicker, it is always green. I have checked the red, blue and green bulbs through the viewing pannel at the back and they are all working. Any help on this would be a great! Thanks. Craig.

green tint to picture and can't be adjusted out?

  • Anonymous Dec 31, 2007

deffo not blue or red. as this can be easily aligned on tv. the green
is SET where it is. so it is something to do with the chip.. i had a
quote on new chipboard that controls sending sigals to lights etc... it
costs 120 for new one and was told it is easy to remove and replace by
steady hands and memory to remember which goes to which!! i might have
to claim this on insurance! rather buying something and does not work!

It's not missing blue. you can see that from the menu. The menu shows blue. I had this problem a year ago and the samsung technician showed me a solution with the remote control. Something taking the battery out and resetting. I'm trying to find it now.

I guess it's missing blue. Even if you see the blue crt working it's not enough and focalised. replace the coolant in it and also check if you have some coolant leak on the crt pcb.

Loose Connection for the Green Signal?

Well, first of all, isn't there a warranty on the repair?
It still could be a bad solder connection somewhere but I have seen what is called a G2 / Focus block go bad causing your symptoms.

Working around those tubes is not recommended unless you know what you're doing. You can really mess up the picture or worse, break a tube.

17 yr. old 35" RCA loses color intermittently. Picture & sound ok

Three guns Red Blue and Green in the picture tube of an old CRT set. If one of the guns goes out it effects that color. Sounds like one of the guns inside of the tube is going out, To costly to replace for such an old antilog set that will have to have a convertor box next month anyway.

Rear Projection TV Picture is all green with Horizontal Lines

It looks like you started out with an intermittent solder connection which may have been fairly easy to find early on. Now, unless a technican can make it come and go while tapping on the circuit board and repair the connection, it may be a very expensive shop repair.

WEGA 36" : Screen is low contrast and green

Sorry to say, it sounds like a bad picture tube, But could be also the capacitor that filters the screen voltage on the crt drivers. In all my years though, your complaint has been the picture tube. Good Luck.
