Question about GE 46GW 948 46" Rear Projection Television
We have a major problem with our TV! Some days it shoes more blue than the rest, some days more red then the rest. But everyday its blurry as all get up! We have tried the converence thing in the front settings of the TV. But that doesnt help no matter how we align the lines. We have opened the back to find a 6 screw panel on the right which works great at some time but eventually goes back to what it was, sometimes the very next time we turn the TV on again. We also recently found a 10 oxegon shaped screw panel which we just started to mess with even though there is no labels to it. All I can tell is one of them will adjust the vertical alignment of the screen. Now what is wrong with our TV & how can we fix this on our own! We arent in any shape to buy a new TV & we are willing to do it ourselves if we can! Before we lose our eyesight trying to watch TV!
The convergence issue you have will not adjust out....repair
of the convergence circuit will be necessary....then adjust...T.

SOURCE: Out of alignment
You have a problem on the convergence power supply board. The microprocessor in your set thinks it is a direct view set. This is usually caused by the regulator IC on the convergence power supply board. The type number is STK730-130 if I remember correctly.

It is possible, that the type of connection you have to your TV are crossed.
With COMPONENT cables, you have 3 plugs, red green and blue.
If this is the case, correct the plugs location to the correct plug.
Lens alignment results in a fuzzy (diffused) picture.
outside of that I too am at a loss.
good luck and don't forget to vote!!!

SOURCE: screen projector un aligned
Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.
The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs.
