Check the fuse, if that's OK check the wall socket works by plugging in something you know to work. If the monitor has an external power brick check if it has any indicator lights and if they are on.

Have an xps 200, monitor suddenly went black the other day in the middle of use. Noticed the power light had gone from green to amber. When I push button on monitor says it is in power save mode, to move...

Try connecting the monitor to a friend's computer. If you get some sort of a display it's not the problem. When you say that the computer makes a new noise like the fans are spinning fast, you might have an issue with the video card , motherboard, or power supply.

No power to Dell E173FPc monitor; power light doesn't come on

It sounds like you are not getting any power. I would try another power cord to see if it makes a difference.

My Moniter won't work!

That high pitched sound in one way is a very good thing. It pretty much points out the source of the problem itself. That is more than likely either a blown capacitor or transformer on the power source inside the monitor. I would rule out the power inverter for the LCD backlight because the power light will not turn on either. I have found that Samsung is very good with their repairs, and if it is a somewhat recent model they should be able to get it drop ship repaired with little expense. That can be an inconvenience, and if you do decide to replace the monitor altogether, please be eco-conscious and have the old screen either donated to a goodwill organization where scavengers like me will buy it for raw parts, or to an electronics recycling center. E-Waste is becoming a very large problem and LCDs and flat screens are a hefty piece of it.

Hello

Try the first one, if it still doesn't work move on to
the next one and so on.

1) Make sure the monitor is plugged into the Graphics card
( not the VGA motherboard )

2)
Control panel>Power Options>Power Schemes Dropdown Menu>Always On

3) download and reinstall monitor software from http://www.helpdrivers.com/ingles/listado/panellis.asp?marca=LG&perif=monitores1

4) Test an other monitor,
- if this one fails too, you're graphic card is probably broken
- if this one works, you're monitor settings are incorrect

Monitor will not power on....

I just repaired one. Symptom was no power at all. When I plugged it in, I could hear the switching supply making a noise, like it was trying to turn on. I opened it up and It ended up being 2 capacitors in the power supply section. I seen the tops were swollen, they were 1000uF 10V. They were for the 5volt power section I believe.
I think they were C824 and C825. I removed both of them and replaced them with one 2200uF 10V cap. I powered it up and it works now.
