Question about Kenmore 62622 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

No heat, timer not advancing

I have a Kenmore 65662, gas dryer. There was no choice for this dryer on here,,,maybe due to age, so I just chose any dryer in order to get on here. Either way, the dryer has been working great and now all of a sudden the timer will not advance and there is no heat. The motor is working fine, the drum spins, etc. Just no heat and timer not moving. Could you please help lead me in the right direction to possibly get this resolved?? Thank you!

I have a new Kenmore Electric Dryer that the timer does not advance and seems to be running very hot. This is the 2nd new dryer that the timer doesn't advance. I have replaced the house circuit breaker and wiring. Original house (just bought and moved in) wiring was 12AWG and the breaker was 20amp and I was only getting 120 at the recept. The first dryer blew the fuse and eventually the dryer stopped working and had to be replaced again. I have since installed 10awg and a 30 amp fuse and I am now getting 240 at the recepticle but I am still having the timer issue. I have also verified that the vent is clear. Is it just bad luck?

If the timer advances in timed cycle but not automatic, you have a bad heater thermostat.

SOURCE: No heat,,timer not advancing

Check with a multi-meter for power on THE heating element's tags (115/220V). If it does get power, you should replace the heating element. In case of no power- you should replace the thermostat. Good luck!

No heat during the dryer cycle

Hi,

There are several things that can cause a gas dryer to have no heat. I can walk you through how to test the components if you have a bit of mechanical ability and an ohmmeter to test with. I will list the suspects here but to narrow it down we need to do a bit more troubleshooting.

Thermal fuse or thermal cut off - these two components can trip if too much heat builds up due to lack of air flow, usually a restricted vent.

Gas valve coils - these can fail as a result of age

Gas valve ignitor - This can fail as a result of age or vibration

Control/timer contacts - Fails due to age or heavy use

Let me know how deep you want me to go as far as troubleshooting with you on these and I would be happy to assist.

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer not heating and not cutting off

I had an identical problem to yours this weekend with my Kenmore dryer. There were 2 problems.

1. Timer was broken. Does not advance to "OFF" position on timed dry, however it still works for auto-dry.

2. Thermal fuse was blown. Upon replacing, dryer heated up normally.

I believe when the timer broke, the dryer had kept running and blew the thermal fuse. On Sears' website, thermal fuse is $5.30, timer is roughly $80.

Motor runs, but timer does not advance, no heat.

if the timer is on auto it won't advance if there is no heat, you'll need a meter to read out parts in dryer,is it gas or electric?try first by checking the thermal fuse on the blower wheel housing,if that's good check the heater if it's electric,if it's gas check the ignitor, sensor gas coilssend model number and if it's gas or electric next time
