Re: My akai dlp tv is flashing power and lamp the red...
The back cover is not on the TV correctly. on the back cover there is a safety switch so that the lamp light is not exposed. The lamp emits radiation and UV rays. Not healthy.
forgot to mention if the back is on properly, take it off and make sure that the knob on the cover that you can hold in your hand meets up with the button on the bottom left. there are arrows on the cover the arrows are suppose to be facing up!forgot to mention if the back is on properly, take it off and make sure that the knob on the cover that you can hold in your hand meets up with the button on the bottom left. there are arrows on the cover the arrows are suppose to be facing up!

Make sure its an original Osram or Philips bulb inside the housing. If its a cheap lamp it will act this way. If it is an original lamp, then you may have a power supply issue. It shouldn't affect your TV but you may want to try resetting the lamp timer by following the instructions that came with the lamp.
TY-LA1001 Timer reset
While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the number 0 button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.
Hi,normally when the 3 led lights show up they indicate its time to replace the lamp. The lamp that is inside your tv normally last around 3000 hrs 1-2 yrs .Pay attention to any weird sounds which could indicate another problem.

Is it a CRT or a DLP/LCD projector? If not a CRT, a worn-out projection lamp can cause this symptom. When it is a DLP projector, a faulty Colour Wheel sensor can be the additional problem. If it is a CRT projection unit the High Voltage and deflection circuit must be examined...
Check the lamp door assembly, if the lights are alternating red then green, then this might mean that the metal pin that looks like a roofing nail is not making contact with the metal clip. Remove screws, reset panel in place and turn on, the red power button should be the only light on.
Good Luck!!!
check for popped or raised tops on caps in power supply. also try unplugging set for 5 minutes and resetting it. How about does your color wheel spin up? if your color wheel don't startup then your tv will also shut down. also check all fans they all should be running at turn on. if all fails i would say its your light engine.
i have a similar tv, with 5 blinking red lights on the power off. is that a power board issue? (I see the small green light ionside the tv, flashing green.,,) the outer light stays red or flashed red when i power off. i replaced the fuses, still same issue.
