Spin cycle doens't work

The machine washes clothes but does not spin at the end. All the water is gone but clothes are very wet. I read on one website to check the lid switch and i do not here it click when the lid goes down. So i used my had to press it and the drum still doesn't spin... am i testing this right and do i need to check the belt? and if so how do i open the washer... please help.

Your hand probably won't depress the lid switch far enough to actuate it. Use a pencil, pen or old toothbrush handle to press the switch down and see if spin starts. If it starts, the lid actuator is likely broken or out of alignment.
