Help! When playing back DVDs, I've recently encountered problems where the unit just "stops".....sometimes it locks up when initially loading the disk, and you can't break out of it without unplugging the unit. Other times in the middle of playback it will just shut off completely. Any ideas? Thanks

Hello Enter the Menu screen, select, preference, select default, and OK. If the problem is with password forgot, the default passord of this unit is [ 3308]. Enter this password on the first screen. Sometimes the unit won't accept this passord for the first time to cheat you, enter this pasword again. After that, you can enter your own passord. OK.
While "NO DISC" message appears on the display of main unit, hold the main unit's STOP button for longer than 5 seconds. "INITIALIZE" appears on the display and all settings will return to the default values.
Using the RESET function will erase all stored settings.
Not having Cable TV would not stop it playing back a DVD. A good TV aerial, with new cable will cure any bad TV signals, but the fact that it is not playing back a DVD everytime tells me that there is something wrong with the unit's mechanism.
The Panasonic engineer in this case doesn't know what he is talking about.
My player starts the DVD
opens the main menue
I select play
then it just completely powers off..
Can someone help???
