I just purchased a used Ricoh 1018D and it works great except for one problem. When I select "sort" the light indicator shows it is selected. However, everytime the document is fed through the ADF with the sort selected, the machine stops after one copy is prouced and the "out of paper" indicator lights up for the paper drawer. If I feed the document through the ADF for multiple copies without selecting "sort", it produces the correct amount of copies from the paper tray without sorting. In this case, there is not out of paper indication and everything works fine. I would appreciate some guidance with diagnostics and/or a part replacement recommendation. Thanks in advance.
If you are using a4 size paper,,,make sure that your using tray is prograo to a4 size...look the color green in tray with a number indicated there and adjust this that you want to use paper size

Hi songman to sort you need to have the A4 paper in both cassettes one cassette needs to be A4 portrait(wide edge first) and the other needs to be landscape (short edge first)make sure you have the green paper size selector set correctly as well regards Dr Bob1
