Dead Buttons The Reciever works Fine with the Remote, but when you hit the Open Button on it, and the Display on the Reciever Flips down, all the Interior Buttons and the Interior Display is Dead. You can perform almost all the Needed Functions on the Remote, EXCEPT Ejecting CD's the only way to do that is one of the Dead Buttons on the Reciever. The outer Display works Fine, with the Racing Cars and Graphics. It is only the Controls that are Dead. How do I fix this?

Most likely a problem with the thin cable connecting the faceplate to the head unit. Had the same problem with mine. Eventually the display died. The part # for the cable is: Item - ( PWB, FLEXIBLE ), 186181112, $19.87 ea. I just received mine, now I can't figure out how to get the faceplate apart to install it.

Remote doesn't operate reciever

Hello Fixya customer,

Thank you for your question.

Please determine if the "Audio" button is actually working.... after pressing the audio button, can you still control the DVD, if not then the remote has switched to the Onkyo. Although, this is not 100% conclusive, unless you have a 2nd remote to test the Onkyo with, it provides a sound basis to proceed.

Assuming the remote is transmitting and the IR receiver on the front of the Onkyo is not otherwise blocked, likely faults include the IR receiver, input to the Micro processor, and the Micro processor.

The most probable fault is the IR receiver.

Thank you for using Fixya, and if I can help you further, please let me know.

Universal home theater remote for Pioneer VSX-305 audio/video stereo receiver

Don't spend a lot of money for a universal remote. Radio Shack has some good buys. I think you are the same person who is having problems with a 305. Get rid of it. You can make a quantum leap at Amazon for less than $200 for a Pioneer.

Cd player locked

It has a defective ribbon cable between the face and the motherboard. This is a common repair, but must be done by a repair shop. My shop charges around $60-70 for parts and labor for that repair, to give you a ballpark of what to expect.

Remote works, but not the reciever

This one is tough one. It soundslike you have lost the connection between the flip face and the main head unit. I suggest you pull the head unit and get it to a bench for closer investigation. Look for and tears in the connecting wire harness between the Flip control, and the main Unit.

Buttons not working

Have you checked whether the front panel of your reciever hinges down or up if it does there may be a cut off button under there which when operated will let the front panel buttons work again
