John Deere L110 won't start.

My John Deere L110 Automatic riding mower will not start. Spark plug is firing. Fuel pump is pumping fuel to carb. Poured fuel directly into carb and it started and ran until all fuel was burned out. Carb problem?

Check the solenoid on the bottom of the carb see if there is power if no power check the safety switch on the brake/clutch if there is power remove the solenoid and put power and ground to it to see if it opens if not try and clean it with carb cleaner if that works and opens remove the bowl from the carb and check the needle valve on the float make sure it moves

SOURCE: john deere 425 mower won't start

The ignition switch module is likely to be the problem, they seem to quit for no good reason. The safety relays and fuses are built into the board that comes with the switch and will most likely fix your problem.

I have a John Deere 110 with 17.5 kohler. Can't get fuel solenoid to pump fuel to the carburettor

There is a John Deere 110 and also a John Deere L110, two totally different tractors. You have the L110 . Because the fuel tank is under the seat and lower then the engine it has a fuel pump on the engine to lift the fuel and fill the carburetor. There will also be a fuel filter. This engine is a Kohler Command vertical CV491S.It has a mechanical fuel pump that is driven from the cam shaft lob. It is mounted on the opposite side of the carburetor on the engine.
john-deere-110-17-5-kohler-get-fuel-k4rtos32mwallqf4sr54o5xl-5-0.jpg When the engine is spinning it pumps fuel to the carburetor. On the bottom of the carburetor there is a fuel solenoid with wires hanging out of it.

john-deere-110-17-5-kohler-get-fuel-k4rtos32mwallqf4sr54o5xl-5-2.jpg Its job is when you turn the key on it pulls a plunger down and lets fuel feed the main jet in the carburetor and when you turn the tractor off it goes back up and plugs the hole to stop the gas from feeding the main jet. If this was not on there and you had it at operating temperature at higher rpm and shut it off the gas would go into the cylinder and be ignited by the glowing red carbon deposits and back fire possibly breaking the crankshaft rod. `
Remove the spark plug wire and stuff it in a glove to make sure we have no surprises.I would start by removing the fuel hose from the carburetor and placing in a bottle and crank the engine to see if fuel came out of the hose, if not I would change the fuel filter or at least remove it and blow backwards through it to make sure it is not plugged then replace it and crank again looking for fuel at the hose in the bottle. If you still have no fuel then I would replace the fuel pump. If you had fuel at the hose on the test then you need to place your ear close to the fuel solenoid on the bottom of the carb and list for a click sound when you cycle the key off and on.This would be the plugger opening and shutting as the key is cycled. If there is no clicking you need to check for current at the wire feeding the solenoid with a test light. Let us know what you find.

John Deere x320 not starting. Mower sat for three months. Drained and cleaned all bad gas from entire fuel system. Charged battery. Cleaned plugs and air filter. Fuel filter good. Solenoid and fuel pump...

is the primer working ? have you tried the self primer if fitted ? when you turn over the engine is the bubbles in the fuel viewer or does it just drop. or something else.

Engine surges won't run with out choke and then it stalls

If the engine surges and won't run without choke it is starving for fuel. Best place to start is the fuel filter. After the fuel filter, pull the fuel line off of the carburetor and place a container under the fuel line to catch the fuel. Crank the engine over and watch for the amount of fuel being pumped through the line. There should be a good stream of fuel with each pulse from the pump. Chances are the pump diaphragm is getting weak and it cannot keep enough fuel in the carb to run proper. Check those items and let me know if it helps, Daniel.

Lt180 won't run without choke pulled out..replaced fuel pump, gas,.2 spark plugs...fuel filter looks fine & carb was replaced last year.

Hi, disassemble and clean all jets in the carby, also check the valve clearances are correct because if they too tight the engine will not draw fuel in. Hope this helps, regards Phil.
