Question about Akai LCT2716 27 in. LCD Television
I have an AKAI LCT2715 and I came in the room the other day it was making a popping niose in the speakers and the power led (usually red or green) was blinking eratically in orange. Any ideas?
There are about 16 to 17 capacitors that are a common fail point on this TV. I can repair your power supply board with new high quality capacitors and recondition the board to work like new for $100 + S/H, you simply have to send me the power supply module and turn around is approx 2 days from the time I receive the package to the time its out the door. Approx 8 business days according to the delivery carrier you use.

I found Radio Shack carries 1000 uf 35v caps and 470 uf 35v caps. Frys carries the 1000 uf 16v and 470 uf 16v caps. I replaced the 25v caps with 35v caps and did not need to replace the main caps. Understand that you can go a little higher on the voltage specs even 50v if needed and you wont have any problems. Also, if you dont have either of these stores near you . You can get them from Newark Electronics Online.

Alright, I have all the capacitors taken off the power source (just at the one end), but now, I don't have the ability to get them soldered on - the working space is so tiny!
Twizted, how do I contact you for your service?

I too have an Akai LCT2715 27" and this afternoon while watching TV I too lost my screen and got the same strange popping in my speakers. After over an hour on hold I was put on the phone with a Customer Service Manager who informed me that because I have owned this TV for 4 months past the year mark I am on my own and Akai will not do anything to help me. They also let me know that if I wanted I could bring my television to thier service center 45min from my home, but that too would be my responsibility because as they had pointed out before I was 4 months over my 1 year warranty.

I was watching atv show and all of a sudden tv went off with orange blinking light and speaker had crackling sound.
I have two TV and both TV's went bad within 1 month of one another. This happened during their 13 or 14 month, so the warranty had lapsed.
