My pcn5425r tv has developed a problem with the picture being concave on the screen and double like image to it. I noticed someone else listing the same problem with no answers listed, hoped maybe someone had figured out a possible solution? Thanks

Re: convergence: concave picture with double image
An easy replacement on the Samsubgs is to replace the convergence board. If you are doing this yourself it is just a plug in board. Here is a link for the part number and how to purchase it.

Most likely scenario is that the auto convergence option has disappeared which will cause the set to have an arced picture with double images. You can get the RCA repair kit called ITC222 & ITC222A convergence option missing repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which has the replacement parts and the CD with instructions.
By the picture that you have supplied with the question you have a rear projection tv. The problem you are describing sounds like you have had the convergence module in your tv fail. Depending on the age and make of the tv, the repair costs ( if out of warranty ) can be prohibitive. The convergence module on rear projection tv's not only is in charge of bringing the 3 different color images together into a watchable picture but also handles the east west correction ( concave / convex aspect to the picture or lack there of ).
Very easy repair....Just replace the convergence amp board part# BP95-00142E
(about $80) It includes both convergence IC's and associated components (Five connectors, one screw, easy access)no soldering...
I'm assuming you were having picture quality problems prior to pressing the auto convergence button. If not then there could be a problem in that circuit. More likely I believe is a problem on the convergence board assembly or in the pincushion circuits. Also, check your owners manual to see if there is a manual convergence adjustment you can do.
