Okay, I was on my nieces computer (Windows 98) to set her Coby MPC-848 256 MB MP3 Player. I didn't get it at first, but the problem is, I clicked on something about Firmware and when I clicked ok, the player will reset. Ok, now the player won't turn on at all!
I tried on my computer, it won't turn work either.
I bought two, the other one is working since my computer is XP.
How do I fix the other one?

For an iPod you have to use iTunes and then click on the iPod on the left side and Sync it. For almost every other MP3 player you can use Windows Media Player. Open it and go to the Sync tab on the top. I like to use a playlist that I've created and Sync that to my MP3 player. The Coby might work different but almost all MP3 players can Sync with Windows Media Player.
try reseting the device its usualy a small pinhole on the back or side of the device try holding that in for about 10 seconds
try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilitys from the manufacturers website
I have issues every time I remove the battery. Under settings there is an option for USB mode. The default mode does not seem to recognize the device as a file storage device. Try the other USB option and you may have more luck (Again, the USB option is found on the MPC player, not on thecomputer)
VERSION 9 OF WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER CANNOT SYNC FILES, YOU MAY NEED TO DOWNLOAD A NEW DRIVER FROM THE WEBSITE...TRY DRAG AND DROP
GO TO MY COMPUTER FIND YOUR DEVICE AND DRAG AND DROP....YOUR PLAYER MAY NOT PLAY THE SONG IF YOU DO NOT HAVE "ID3" TAGS, TO ADD THEM, LEFT CLICK ON THE SONG AND CLICK PROPERTIES THEN CLICK THE DETAILS TAB AND THEN CLICK ADVANCED <IF NEEDED>, JUST TYPE IN THE INFORMATION
