Broken nds ribbon cable

Hi,
If you yourself have replace it, I think you damage the upper LCD ribbon connector. I have repaired a lot of DS, a broken hinge usually the cause of that problem( ribbon connector cut off ).
Check the upper LCD if that model have a seperate ribbon connector, luckily you could buy the ribbon only, if not, BAD LUCK, you have to buy a new upper LCD.

if you have another nds lite try switching batterys if that dont work then its broke, sorry.

You need to check the top screen ribbon is fully inserted into to place on the board. A green light and flash of the screen within a second means ribbon not connecting right

the only thing you can do is buy a new ds. you can try to sell that ds to another person who thinks they can fix it.

If you have a valid receipt nintendo will have to cover it under warranty. Provided it just snapped and is not broke because of bad handling.
Alternatively order a new case through eBay and just switch the old case with the new one.

I hear about the ribbon cable not being inserted wel.
Lots of people had it put in place, looking ok but no action from the ds. I suggest to reinsert the ribon cables, i heard its quite tricky with the ds...

Replace it. You can find them on ebay for about $10 or $15. Sorry there isn't a fix without purchase.

the backlight or fuses are dead. Do not bypass fuses or you'll kill your system.

Its possible though sometimes it is expensive so dont worth the work.

-Top screen broken: you can buy a replacement and carefully do the work by yourself with the help of a guide (youtube have many) and some tools (3 winding screwdriver is the less common though not much). The foil data ribbon can be bought separatelly for the original NDS though the new NDS lite have it soldered and very difficult to work.

-Broken plastics: a broken hinge means you need to buy a replacement shell. Anyway buy a complete shell from a DS modding shop or take parts from a non broken plastics DS (water damaged one may be good) in a place like ebay. You would be lucky if you find a non broken screens and good plastics DS for parts.

At the end you may be over your repair budget and not only that, you would be very near to buy a new unit with this money. Each one make its own choice.

Hi, replacing the original nds upper screen is a fairly straight forward procedure, you need to remove the 4 x small plastic plugs located in the corners of upper screen, then remove the 4 x phillips screws, the top outer back part of the case will seperate and you can gain access to the screen. Firstly remove the small screw holding down the right hand pcboard to gain access to the ribbon connectors, release the larger flat connector by hinging the clip up, slide the ribbon out, underneath you will see a tiny connector, gently ease the small clip back towards the ribbon, prising a little each side at a time, remove the ribbon and then you can prise the screen from the case.
