The fuel line rots apart you need to replace the line pull the old hose out take a new hose cut down about a half inch cutting the line to about 1/3 slide a stiff wire down the hole and out the gas cap slide the hose over the wire and slide it back til the cut back end pops out put the filter on the end and pull it into place cut to size and install on the carb

The standard mix for most chain saws is 40:1 that's about 3-1/4 oz per gallon.

Poulan 2150 chain saw starts and dies after 5 seconds or so then wont start
Try a few easy things first, hook the fuel hose out of the fuel tank through the filler hole and replace the filter on the end, follow the fuel hoses up to the carb and check foe any signs of fuel leakage, replace the affending hose if cracked.

Poulan 2150 chain saw starts after priming and dies after a few seconds
Take the exhaust off so you can see the side of the piston, if it is scored or damaged it means it has probably been run without oil added to the petrol.
That can cause the problems you are having, if it is throw it away, its not worth repairing

How do i change the fuel filter on my poulan 2055 chain saw?
Take a lenght of welding wire or other stiff wire, bend the end around to create a u then enter into the fuel tank throught the filler hole, hook the fuel hose and carfully pull out through the filler with the filter on the end, the hose will be long enough to do this, just pull the filter off the enf of the hose and re fit the new filter.

I am trying to replace the fuel lines for my poulan 2055 chain saw but I cn't get the hoses to go in the holes that go into the tank. I bought the hose from Lowes and look to be the same size but
cut one end of the hose down to 1/3 about a half inch long slide a stiff wire threw the hole slide the hose over the wire and pull it back till the end of the hose pops out pull the wire out then pulling the hose tight will srink the hose and allow it to pull threw put the filter on and pull it into place cut to size and hook up the carb end

The dash number of your serial number is the type.
I am reasonably sure the upper most carburetor connection (it bleeds any air in the carburetor, air rises) goes to the primer. Leave the hoses long enough to swap them and try it. They can be shortened once you verify the correct routing. Good Luck. HTH

  • The filtered hose from the fuel tank connects directly to the carburetor input connection.
  • If the saw is equipped with a primer, the output line from the carburetor connects to the suction side of the primer bulb (once the bulb is collapsed it draws fuel from the tank through the carburetor to refill the bulb as the bulb reinflates).
  • The pressure side of the primer returns any excess fuel to the tank as it is depressed.

Have craftsman chain saw, runs ok for a few minutes then dies. found broken gas line.replaced fuel line,air filter,spark plug, checked muffler, also mixed fresh gas.eng acts like its out of gas. leave it...
The plugged vent gets my vote. Loosen the fuel cap when it starts to starve.
