I ran the generator on it until it ran out and realized my mistake. I put gas only in it to try to clean it and it runs fine for now but have I ruined it?
SOURCE: gas in the oil on my honda generator
Your needle/float is stuck, which will allow fuel to flow though the intake...past the piston..and into the crankcase. If has been awhile since you used it, most likely the gas has gummed up the insides of the carb. Otherwise, you may have had something get into the fuel bowl that is keeping the needle from closing. Best way to solve is to remove and clean the carb. Replace fuel filter if needed also.
Hope this helps

turn the fuel off when not in use,it is going through the carb.to the oil.

Hi there,
If I remember correctly this model does not use a fuel/oil mix. Please confirm this.
If what you are saying is that in filling the device with gas and checking the oil level, both overflowed, then we are good.
As you have done, drain both to their proper levels.
Now pull the spark plugs, they are most likely fouled with oil.
Turn the generator over a few times to clear the cylinder of excess oil.
Give the plugs a good cleaning. You may need to replace them. I just have a thing about tossing something with life still left in it.
Put the plugs back in and fire it up.
Best regards
Mike
