How to clean risograph drums?

I heard that I can clean risograph drums with diesel or alcohol. How exactly should I apply it? Should I rub it in with fingers or cloth? Should I soak it overnight using a cloth? Let me know if you have experience with this! - Paloma

SOURCE: Risograph Drum

Hi,
Try run a hundred copies at slow speed and full density/ pressure.
If that fails get a can of WD40 and spray it under the master, then rub the area with your finger. this will desolve the dryed ink on the drum surface.

My Risograph RZ990 master gets wrinkles at the end on the drum.

My Risograph RZ990 master gets wrinkles at the end of the drum.
If your Risograph RZ990 master is getting wrinkles at the end on the drum, it can be a common issue with Risograph machines that may be caused by several factors. Here are some steps to help diagnose and potentially resolve the problem:
1. Master Roll Condition: Inspect the condition of the master roll itself. Wrinkles can occur if the master roll is damaged or has uneven tension. Ensure that the roll is loaded correctly and that it is not excessively loose or tight.
2. Master Roll Alignment: Make sure the master roll is properly aligned with the machine's drum. An improper alignment can lead to wrinkles during the printing process.
3. Drum Cleaning: Check the drum for any dirt, toner residue, or debris. A dirty drum can cause irregularities in the master's transfer, leading to wrinkles. Clean the drum gently with a lint-free cloth or an appropriate cleaning solution recommended by the manufacturer.
4. Drum Condition: Examine the condition of the drum itself. If the drum is scratched, worn, or damaged, it can affect the master's transfer quality. In such cases, the drum may need to be replaced or professionally serviced.
5. Master Roll Tension: Ensure that the tension of the master roll is correctly adjusted according to the manufacturer's guidelines. Incorrect tension can lead to wrinkles in the master.
6. Master Roll Quality: Check the quality of the master roll itself. If it's old or damaged, it may not feed smoothly, resulting in wrinkles. Consider replacing the master roll with a new one.
7. Temperature and Humidity: Environmental factors such as temperature and humidity can impact the performance of the master roll and the printing process. Ensure that the operating conditions are within the recommended range specified by the manufacturer.
8. Printer Settings: Verify that the printer settings, such as speed and pressure, are correctly configured for the type of master and paper you are using. Incorrect settings can lead to issues like wrinkles.
9. Maintenance Schedule: Follow the recommended maintenance schedule for your Risograph machine. Regular cleaning and maintenance can prevent issues like wrinkles and prolong the life of the equipment.
10. Professional Service: If the issue persists despite your efforts, it may be necessary to contact a professional technician who specializes in Risograph machines. They can diagnose and repair more complex issues and ensure that your machine operates smoothly.
Addressing wrinkles in the master of a Risograph RZ990 machine often involves a combination of proper maintenance, correct settings, and occasionally replacing damaged components. It's essential to follow the manufacturer's guidelines and consider seeking professional assistance if needed to resolve the issue effectively.

Clean heads on VCR

Q-tips, isopropyl alcohol and soft cloth + pressurized air is what you need. Disconnect from the wall outlet, open the cover. Blow the dust out with a few bursts from the air can. Clean all the upright posts along the tape path. On the left is the erase head (unless you have a fine editing VCR) - rub it clean with a q-tip soaked in alcohol - dry with a clean cloth. To the forward right of the round video head drum is the audio head, drive shaft (capstan) and rubber pinch roller. Clean all these like the erase head but use very little alcohol on the roller. Then clean the round video head. Never touch it with your fingers or anything but a q-tip or soft cloth. The actual video heads are in the tiny slots in the rotating part. Do not rub them but just touch a few times with a slightly moist (alcohol) q-tip. The rest of the drum can be rubbed normally paying attention to getting the groove clean.

Vehicle has VW Diesel engine. I need to clean the injectors from normal diesel use and the vehicle was not driven a lot in the last year. Cann't change the filter it's located in the fuel tank and it one...

You would be better off putting everclear alcohol in the system. Rubbing alcohol has no effect on the water content and may destroy the seals and gaskets in the fuel system. 100 percent ethanol. mixed in with the diesel.

Does not dry thoroughly in sensor mode heard that softner sheets may require cleaning the sensor . How do you find and clean sensor.

First, I always set the dryness level at the maximum dry level, because the Korean's "Normal Dry" is what we call "Damp Dry". The sensor is located just inside the door, by the lint filter. If you stick your head into the dryer drum and look back toward the filter you will see it. (two curved metal bars, about an inch apart and about 5 inches long.) Clean with soap and water, or I've heard rubbing alcohol works. If your sensor bars need cleaning, the dryer usually will go quickly to the 6 minute mark after starting.

Rp 3100 Drum Problem

You can clean it, thats a good idea but,,(and this is messy) roll back the master.. take out the ink cartridge, use a rod to squeeze some ink onto the area, and smooth it out into the screen with a plastic scraper.. Lay the master back over. Keep scrap paper around and print a big black square and run a couple hundred sheets through.. This will work. Messy but will work. If you don't want to manually put some ink on the area.. Print a large black square and run a couple hundred sheets.. see what that does.
