Question about Mitsubishi WS-65313 65" Rear Projection HDTV

TV Doesn't Function: Can turn on, but no menu or input recognition

I just bought a MIsubishi WS-65313 off of craigslist. Initially, the TV wouldn't turn on. I finally got it to turn on, but I am having trouble getting the functions to work. i press the input buttons and it occasionally changes inputs, but it doesn't say on the top of the screen what the input name is, or if it doesn't it flickers heavily. Similarly, I cannot pull up the menu, or if I do occassionally, the menu seems to flicker into life, and can barely access functions. What steps can I take to solve this problem?

The set like all has a hard reset which requires a four digit number code and the original Mitsubishi remote---sets almost everything in the set back to original except convergence.

also, don't buy any TV or electronics on CL as people dump their problems on someone else..

SOURCE: Hi. I have a Mitsubishi

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You’ll need to reset the Projection TV and to reset it follow these steps—

Turn off the television and wait for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, unplug the TV from the power cord from the electrical outlet. Let the television remain without power for more then 1 minute.

Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. If the television is plugged into a power surge protector, remove it from there and plug it directly into the wall outlet. Turn on the television. If the issue is resolved then the problem is with the power surge protector and not the television.

If still the issue persists, then it means that the fault protection circuit has detected a fault and has turned down the TV. You'll need to check various things to be sure which part is bad. Please check these---

1. Check for signal cables at the back and also try unplugging the TV for 8-10 hours to reset it.

2. Swollen /bulged capacitors on the power supply board-- This happens due to overheating of capacitors.

3. If the capacitors are fine then you'll need to check for connectors on all the boards and also the fans if they are working fine.

4. Make sure the lamp connections are fine and ballast is not burnt.

Note-- Please make sure to turn off and unplug the TV for at least 1 hour (this will drain off current from all components especially capacitors) before you perform any repairs. Also note that the TV consists of very high voltages even when it is in OFF condition.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

The vertical IC needs to be replaced. You can get new Vertical output ICs at www.tvrepairworld.com and they will also help explain where its located.

jamesolathe,

This is a known defect with all the WS series Mitsubishis. The electrolytic capacitors on the DM and power boards dry out and fail. They will all need to be replaced. Mitsubishi does not have any more boards in stock and does not support repairing this. Fortunately there is a company which sells the necessary repair kit(s). I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r7065906-mitsubishi_turn_flashing_power_timer which explains the problem, where to get the repair parts and how to do the repair. The parts supplier also has good instructions with the parts.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating. Please consider a testimonial. Thank you.

Check the connections for firmness. If the converter works properly, there shouldn't be any problem other than this.

How do i connect my dvi to vga to my misubishi ws-65313

you can't, DVI is a digital video source and VGA is an analog video source. however there is a VGA to component RGBHV cable that you can use. the Mitsubishi TV is very limited to the resolutions the VGA output can be. only 1080I, 480P or 480I. HD component video input in the menu you must change the source from Y /Pb/ Pr to RGB.

Mitsubishi ws-65313 always says tv will turn off in 2 minutes, how do you stop this

It may be the reason they got rid of it but the set should have a hidden menu called Option which will allow a hard reset of the entire set and should cure the quirk the set seems to have==going to need and have the Mitsubishi remote and a four digit number code to do it.

I do not see any way to divide main wooden box of TV as you can remove front screen and back cover of TV but main cabinet of TV still remain the same.
Check below exploded views of WS-65313 for better explanation.
Thanks.

Mitsubishi WS-65313 Blinking Screen

Does your system have hdmi input. If so hook up cable box, if it has hdmi, to the tv and see if that works.
If that clears up your problem you have a problem with the av board or boards.
I have found that most of the newer systems do not like the voltage and frequency from xboxes, playstations, or computers very well using the rca out and in.
Let me know what you find out. I might have a better solution for you.

Mitsubishi WS-65313 - Will not turn on

The most common failure are the two convergence integrated circuits part # 267P173010. The two pico fuses may be open as well, which come from the power supply and provide +24 volts and -24 volts.
