It could be expensive if taken to a garage. If you feel confident removing the head yourself it will only cost you the price of a head gasket, which is probably the problem.

I am losing water on my chrysler sebring 2008 , 4 cylinder,I have to add water or antifreeze ever 3 weeks. I see no leaks.

Does it over heat? You may have a blown head gasket. Check the compression on each cylinder.

Had minor MVA radiator lost all fluid... No visual damage to car but engine cranks but wouldn't start instantly.... What could cause this?

If you have an alloy engine head and the engine got real hot then you may have a cracked engine head or a warped engine head. A compression test would need to be carried out by a mechanic to test and confirm if this damage has occurred.

I am not a mechanic but I have experienced having cars with cracked head, blown head gaskets and recently a cracked block in engine or worn rings (had to replaced last car as engine block damage is expensive to fix)!
Technical theory on engines follows !

If coolant is leaking into one or more cylinders of the engine via a blown head gasket or cracked head or warped head then the spark won't fire and the fuel won't ignite in the cylinder until it cranks over to a different cylinder that has no water in it. On the next engine timed cycle the water would have been forced out of the water filled cylinder and into the exhaust pipe and will come out as steam.

04 chevy impala has white smoke coming from the exhaust but no leaking

white smoke is caused by water or coolant entering cylinders, if in over flow it will look like a chocolate milk shake. check on oil dipstick to see if you can see traces of water or anti - freeze in the oil. if you see white smoke coming from tail pipe that smoke means that your car has a leaking cylinder-head gasket or a cracked head gasket. If there is just a leak in the gasket, the problem should be relatively easy and inexpensive to fix, but if the problem is a cracked head gasket, chances are the repair will be a lot more complicated and expensive. If the problem is a leaking head-gasket cylinder you will see white smoke, because the faulty gasket is allowing air and fuel to enter the cooling system. As this mixture burns, white smoke is produced and exits through your tailpipe. If you are familiar with the location of the cylinder head gasket you can check it yourself, otherwise take the car to your mechanic and ask him to check the gasket for damage. may not be but just check it out! if its water or anti-freeze, you will smell a sweet smell coming from tailpipe. good-day ! most of the costs today are labor which is very expensive.

The car over heated and now it seems to be loosing power, maybe a water in the spark plugs or gasket needs to be replace.

a cylinder compression check is needed. You can do it yourself with the proper compression gauge available at auto parts stores. This check will tell you if the cylinder head gasket is leaking. Another good test is the Lisle 75500 combustion gas leak tester. This is less expensive but will show if combustion gases are leaking into the engine coolant--a sign of head gasket failure or a cracked cylinder head.

Put coolant in and strts tripping in back of engine even if car is cold

Possible leaking expansion plug in the rear water jacket or maybe a warped cylinder head or blown head gasket. Lights and mirrors will help track it down. Might get expensive to repair if it's the head or it's gasket. Hope this helps!

Coolant leak at the back of engine at the top

If this has the 1.8L turbo 4 cylinder engine, there is a plastic water outlet with a temperature sensor at the back of the engine in the cylinder head, these usually crack and leak..Sometimes the sensor has leaks as well..These are not very expensive to replace.;Make sure to get a new sensor and O-Ring at the same time.

I drained the radiator to put in fresh water water came out black

You should be using Antifreeze in the coolant system cause it boils at a higher temperature and
will not evaporate.plus rest protection and lubrication for the water pump. Water will rust the water jackets inside the engine and ruin the cylinder head gaskets .I suspect the leak is either a simple fix like a hose or water pump seal a big fix like a cylinder head gasket. Water can cause all of these problems.

I have a 1999 cadillac catera and there is water in my oil.

There are a couple of possibilities here.

Head gasket is leaking or

Engine oil cooler is leaking.

Both are expensive and quite a bit of work.

If you are planning on fixing the problem yourself, you will want to buy the haynes manual for your vehicle.

Even if you are not a mechanic, it is worth buying the manual for your vehicle. It has a lot of reference material and sometimes it will help your mechanic to fix your vehicle faster.

If you need more help, post a comment.

Thanks,

Tim
