VSX-D704S When the power is turned on with nothing pluged in to it,It reads over load and then shuts down.

    I have the same problem, I replaced two transistor, the PNP type, but when i connected again the problem remains, also i tested most of the other elements in the amplifier pack, I think tha i need the service manual of the pioneer VSX-D704S, i really appreciate if you can sent it to me to [email protected]

Have the speakers disconnected and turn on unit. If it still shuts down due to thermal protection the amplifier IC pack is damaged. Amplifier IC is tied to one side of the power supply by design. The left channel is probably shorted at the MOSFET on the pack. Nothing you can do but have it serviced. This is a common PIONEER failure.
