Having trouble with drivers...

Hm - this refuses to let me load drivers for this device. It tells me that there is already a "newer driver" loaded and it can only load the drivers if there is no service pack loaded onto my system. Well, it also can't FIND a driver for this when I search for it automatically...so it can't load the driver because a better one exists, but it also can't find a better one to use. I've tried many things - thought maybe it had to do with the 1394-SP2 issue, so i tried about a hundred various solutions that i found all over the net to no avail. And no matter what I do, it won't recognize drivers for this device. Oddly enough, the USB seems to be working fine, no issue at all. Its just the firewire thats malfunctioning, and in the device manager, it has the little yellow exclamation point. Please help! Thanks.

Delete the yelow exclamation listing from device manager. restart the computer. Comnnect your device from serial port. Let the computer to detect it. If add new hardware wizard starts, you just click next and go to the (for xp)"I will find the driver manually" go to browse button go the driver location (cd or folder where it is located). Select it and click next and finish the wizard. Now see if the hardware is working. if not Then ensure that the hardware is properly connected to the serial port. Again delete the yellow exclaimed listing for the device from device manager. Ensure that the driver you want to install is exactly the driver of specified device. Some times it happens that the advance versions of operating systems has pre loaded updated drivers for common devices so the old drivers not work. you also ensure that the driver you want to install is made for the operating system you use. Restart the computer an ensure that the driver is ok.Install it directly from the cd by setup.exe file if you have and see it is working.
