I have a Kodak Easyshare Z612 that I love. On of my children knocked the camera in the floor. When I took a picture and the quickview came up, I had line going through the screen. I looked at the picture with the reveiw button and the picture seemed to look OK. I can not figure out if it is some setting that has been changed on my camer that I can not figure out or if the fall broke something in it. The pictures are not taking that great now, but when I review them they do not have the lines, versus when I take the picture it does. Please help, I love my camera and I need to get it fixed. It goes everywhere I do. I have children. I took the battery out, I recharged the camera and I looked to see if the lens was broken, but could not tell. I have not had the camera but for about 3 months. Thank you, Tonya
The problem is the choke is broken. Look the inside the lens and you can see the choke not close good. you need send it to kodak. The Z612 is receiver too much light when you take the picture
Your only solution is to send it to Kodak for repair. But your right it is a great camera and I to have with me always.
See the other solution with the same camera. Same exact problem.

Had my z612 for about 13 months, no drops, bangs etc.. just started showing up with lines in the pictures... of course out of warranty and stuck with a paperwieght
Have same problem with Z612. After the year it start showing the colored lines in the LCD when pics taken. I think this is linked to the white balance and metering. When I will review pics, they are fine. Print them out and they do have a distortion lines accross. In dark enviroment pics taken are fine. More light and sunlight is in the picture, more distorsion lines are there. Was told that repair will be around $150. Outrageous, just bought Z812 IS for $176 and it has HD video quality and accepts SD cards over 2Gb. Z812IS have a lots of issuew in Z612 fixed.
Got it December 2006, as an Xmas gift. December 29, 2007, dropped it on a driveway. Perhaps two weeks out of warranty? Horizontal lines now appear in almost all pictures taken, sometimes subtle, sometimes glaring defects, but evident if you zoom the image or view it at full scale on a computer monitor.
I wonder if a connection came loose from the CCD, causing loss of information as the image is captured. No fiddling with settings has yet removed the problem.
I just emailed Kodak requesting info about service. Hope it is not the $150 quoted below! A new camera would be the same.
