The iPAQ will keep cycling through this alignment screen until it registers all five points correctly. Try cleaning the screen with a micro cloth and if necessary a little conventional glass cleaner. Then careful click on each of the X being careful to just click the center and not drag the stylus. Even the smallest movement across the screen will cause the registration process to fail. If that doesn?t work try doing a cold boot and restart the process.

Align screen problem

Ref. HP ipaq hx4700: "Align screen" after hard reset or battery loss. I know others have had trouble getting past the "align screen" setup; I saw a suggestion somewhere that said the points were registered incorrectly (maybe in some, but not all of this model?); and they had to tap at locations other than the center of the cross symbol. I tried a variety of combinations, and found that if I tap ABOVE the center (but still on the vertical centerline) for the middle, top left and top right locations; and tap BELOW the center (but still on the vertical centerline) for the bottom left and bottom right...it worked. That brought me to the "Stylus" setup screen...which I also became "stuck" on. So far, I haven't found a solution to THAT issue yet. Gee, why can't they make these things simpler?

Aide moi a aligner mon screenn

I can read French, but, unfortunately, am unable to write in this language. Really sorry! Well, I hope you can read English, because here I go, anyway: you have to tap the exact center of the '+' symbol with the stylus pen 5 times: at the middle and at each corner of the screen (it will move itself as you go tapping). If you miss one of them, the process will be restarted.

Hope you are able to align your screen and move on.
Cheers!

On IPAQ hx2700, how do I do a hard reset? I want

Performing a Hard Reset

Perform a hard reset only when you want to clear all
user-installed settings, applications, and data from RAM
(Random Access Memory), where data and applications you have
loaded are stored.

CAUTION: If you perform a hard reset, your Pocket PC loses all data
and programs not saved in iPAQ File Store.

To perform a hard reset:

1. Press and hold down the Calendar and iTask buttons.
2. While holding down these buttons, use the stylus to
lightly press the Reset button on the bottom of the iPAQ
Pocket PC for about two seconds.
3. When the Pocket PC screen begins to fade, release the
Calendar and iTask buttons first, and then remove the stylus
from the Reset button.

Note: If you simultaneously push and hold the Reset, Calendar,
and iTask buttons for more than two seconds, the battery
disconnects. To restart the device, either plug the device into the
AC Adapter or press the Reset button again.
After performing a hard reset, you may need to reinstall
applications stored in iPAQ File Store to restore shortcuts and full
functionality.

4. The Pocket PC resets and powers on.

To return your iPAQ Pocket PC to factory settings after
performing a hard reset:

1. Tap Start > Programs > File Explorer > My Device.
2. Tap the iPAQ File Store folder to open it.
3. Tap Edit > Select All.
4. Tap and hold the selected files, then tap Delete.
5. Tap Yes to delete all file in iPAQ File Store.

I hacing a probleem with me align srceen hp ipaq it won!t move after tapping.is there somebody how can help me.thanks

The top digitizer part is defective and needs to be replaced.

Unfortunately, such operation needs to be performed by a experienced technician since requires open the PDA, soldering, and replace the top glass digitize part with the risk of break the LCD screen.

I do recoomend you to get a quoto for such service.

If you want to try it, there are in Ebay some digitizer parts that are cheap, but you will ned to procure yourself other tools that are needed for the job.

Best regards,
