SOURCE: My Toshiba TV won't turn

Hi there,

If none of the controls on the side of the TV or the remote are working, press and hold the power button on the side of the TV for at least 5 seconds to reset the TV. You should then be able to switch it back on.

If you are unable to reset the TV using this method, please can you let me know whether you set the timer recording - either accidentally or deliberately - and whether you have experienced a power outage.

Thanks,
BElectric,

SOURCE: Hi. I have a 42"

The best solution to this problem is to call Toshiba directly and ask for assistance. Any TV repair company/shop will probably charge you an automatic fee to assess the problem, and then tell you it's a very expensive fix. With just the model and serial number of your TV, an easy 5 minutes will get you the answer you are looking for.

Sections of the power supply may have gone out, or it detects short circuits in the backlight inverter board or in the power supply itself.
Those are the two areas you need to check. Look fo bad caps with leaking/bulging top fist in the power supply.

I have a Toshiba Regza 42 inch Model 42HL196. It does not come on. It has a blinking red light. it all started witha power outage. The Rec Timer light blinks. it there a way to fix it

Blinks of standby light indicates fault. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch on, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit side inside it. Count the blinks. If you wish to get more details about these blinking codes, check the site linked here. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up previous posts, either by type in the Brand name to your set in its search box, or view it in Mosaic / Timeslide / Flipcard option.

Tv will not turn on. timer light constantly blinks

If you can get into the main menu go to load factory default and reboot, This will reload factory settings and this operation will erase all unwanted settings and load back to factory default. so you can load your own settings and take back control of your tv.

42" toshiba tv

Sorry but you are out of luck, the unit will need repair. It could come back to life in any moment but most often is related to this:

My previous post here

I have seen a faulty board work perfectly until the power is removed (intentionally or accidentally) an applied again or reset via the power button for 5 seconds. This will effectively disable the +12 VDC Power oscillator rendering the TV unusable.

good luck,

The TV turns itself off after 14 minutes

Sounds like maybe you have a sleep timer activated?  There should be an option to reset the tv back to factory reset, this might help you.
