My iPod won't allow me to go anywhere. One day, I found that I could only shuffle the blue highlight around. Then when I decided to charge it, it went to the menu, but the same thing happened again. It won't allow me to go anywhere.

    Please help me!

Plug it into iTunes 7.1 (the newest one) and when the iPod screen comes up, push "Restore" that will delete all the songs, all the settings, and anything else that you may or may not want on it, and restore factory settings. reupload your songs and it should be good as new. O, make shure the hold button isnt stuck or something stupid =) Good luck!

'disc mode'displayed in window, large tick and o.k to disconnect. machine will not respond.

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.

If for any reason this does not resolve your disc mode/frozen iPod issue please do let me know and remember to rate :)

Your iPod Won't Turn On" from the Apple Support Site provides in-depth instructions for troubleshooting an iPod that won't turn on. Apple recommends that you: 1. Make sure the Hold switch is off
2. Make sure the battery is charged
3. Reset iPod
4. Let iPod's battery drain
5. Update iPod's software
6. Make sure iPod is the only device in your FireWire or USB chain. Disconnect everything but the mouse, keyboard, and your iPod, then see if it will turn on.
7. Make sure you are using the FireWire or USB cable that came with your iPod, and that the cable is in good condition.
8. Try connecting iPod to the built-in port of a different computer to see if that works.
"iPod Stops Responding or Won't Wake From Sleep" from the Apple Support Site notes that you need to "charge your iPod, then reset your iPod" if it won't turn off or wake up.
