Tried to reset the tv first, if struck by lightning the tuner will be damaged or the main board but since the tv is still working so i think not the lightning was the main cause.

42" either an LCD or Plasma, neither one of these sets or any like them have convergence circuits in them. Totally different design. Can you describe your blurry picture in a little more detail please. Magnavox made a 46" old style projections tv 15 yrs ago that had a convergence circuit, but I don't think you have that.

This depends on the set,sometimes you need the have Compair to install some software.
If you have a complete panel from a scratched unit it's easy to replace it yourself.

Try doing a channel scan or autoprogram of the tuner again. This should fix the issue.
