We had a new Samsung RS267TDWP side-by-side frig delivered earlier today. The refrigerator side is cooling off nicely, the freezer side is not. Should we expect the freezer sideto begin cooling when the fridge side reaches its temperature, or do we have a dud?

  • E kelly Sep 06, 2012

I got my answer. It takes a lot longer than 'a couple hours' for the freezer to start cooling down - more like 6. We were relieved this finally started happening as we didn't want to have to waste what was in our coolers from waiting 24 hours - what the Samsung rep told us!

It takes approx. 24 hours for a freezer to reach optimal temperature and to stabilize, only because in a 24 hour period the machine will shut off about three times for it's defrost cycle, but like you listed, freezing temperature will be reached in about 6 hours.

SOURCE: Fridge and Freezer losing cooling

we bought a f&p fridge freezer and in summer noticed it wasn't cooling and the freezer wasn't freezing, when the service guy came out he noticed our ducted air con was blowing onto the fridge, once we had redirected the air con outlet the fridge started working as normal, apparently f&p's work on air being convected around the cabinet of the fridge and air blowing on the fridge can effect the temperature of the convected air. hope this helps you or someone

SOURCE: Samsung RS2556 - Refrigerator side is not cooling - Freezer is fine

Ok, what I found out is that there are codes built into the front panel. If you hold the top left and right buttons for 5 seconds, the fridge will reset. If there are no issues, the panel goes blank. If there is a dash in the right side of the panel, there is an issue with the fridge side. In the left, freezer side. The dash indicates a defrost problem. Only a couple of things can cause this. 1. Sensor 2. Heater 3. Fan, 4. control board.

SOURCE: refrigerator not cooling

see if the compressor motor is running

The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help.

If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these:

  • The compressor

  • The Thermostat

  • The overload, relay, or capacitor

  • The defrost timer

  • The condenser fan motor

SOURCE: Samsung RS2533SW freezer not cooling problem

I was having the same problem but with the refrigerator side. I know your problem was with the freezer side but I hope this works in your situation too. I was also told to unplug the fridge for 20 minutes and that did not do a thing to reset the circuit board in my situation. Unplug the refrigerator first. In the back of the refrigerator at the bottom is a metal panel. Remove that panel and off to the right side of it should be a white looking plastic box. Unscrew that box from the fridge and open it up to get to the circuit board. Remove ALL harnesses from the circuit board and capacitor. After doing so plug them all back in and reassemble everything back together and plug in the fridge. This should reset the board and allow it to function correctly. This is advice I got from someone else and everything as of today is cooling down like it should. I hope this helps everyone else out. Best of luck.

Also since the evaporator was frozen solid at the bottom on the refrigerator side I had to leave the power off until it thawed and then had to soak up all the water that collected at the bottom of it.

We just got our new frig anf freezer is blinkinf h1 what does this mean

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

H1 is really HI. Your freezer is too cold. You only have one source of cooling and that is your freezer. You freezer also cools your fresh food section. Your freezer will meet its temper setting before it meets your fresh food section.

The normal setting for the freezer is -2 to + 2 degrees F. and the normal setting for your fresh food section is 35-40 degrees F. Adjust to these settings. Wait 24 hours for your system to stabilize.

If the error code does not go away or your freezer and fresh food section are reasonably within the above settings, then you need to contact the store where you purchased it.

It is not uncommon for a new unit to be delivered one day and I am there the very next.

Samsung RS2630SH Side by Side Refrigerator not cooling down frig or freezer

Is the compressor running? If so, feel the discharge line is the line cold? If not the unit is probably out of Freon, which means it will have a leak somewhere in the system.

I have a Jenn-Air side by side frig. The freezer side cools too cold, the frig side not enough. 2 weeks ago I took all the food out of freezer and noticed ice build up on back. I unplugged unit, let it...

If the freezer is staying cold it sounds like a defrost system problem. A bad timer, heater or thermostat can cause frost to build up on the coils and block air flow to the refrig side. Check out ACMEHowTo.com for troubleshooting the defroster problem.
There is a small duct between the freezer and refrigerator side if this is blocked the frig side won't cool.

Freezer not freezing, frig not cooling

I had a problem with a side by side fridge once, not getting cold on either side.

Turned out to be the compressor....so, that might be your problem too.

There is also a possibility that it could be the thermostat, most parts can be ordered on line, and delivered right to your door. Sometimes a repair guy will come to your house and install, it saves you money, because some of the parts have about a 300 percent markup when brought to your home from a repair shop.

Good luck!!
