Question about Tech Solution TS-4500 Shredder

1 Answer

My shredder keeps running and won't stop in on/auto mode

I have a Tech Solutions TS4500 shredder and lately when I shred something it keeps running. I have to unplug it to mske it stop. I opened up the shredder part and cannot see anything stuck in the teeth. I spent about an hour trying to clean out paper parts from the teeth. I have shredded some papers with labels attached (sticky) and do see very small parts of label attached to the teeth. I tried to remove them all to the best of my ability. I hold the shredder up to the window and can't see anything blocking the teeth. Is there a reset or something? Can you help me figure out why this thing won't stop running? Thanks much.

Does the shredder have the electronic eye to sense paper? Sometimes dust will collect on the sensor causing it to keep running.

sounds like insertion sensor is dirty or defective,

UNPLUG THE SHREDDER.

If this model has electronic eyes (optics) to control the auto-start/stop function and you oil the cutters, chances are the optics are contaminated with shredder oil. Take a cotton swab with a little alchohol and clean and dry the optics.

If you removed the top cover, it is a possibility that you disconnected the wires from the PC Board.

Tech Solutions shredder

It sounds like you may have a gear with a broken tooth you should contact the manufacturer to get more info. Usually when this is the case it will shred good for only a few revolutions and then reversing backs the gear up to a position that allows it to turn the cutters until it once again reaches the area where tooth is missing.
