The remote has a new battery yet the lights button does not work... fan works fine. Could it be the remote?
Had this happen to me and it was a hunter fan. Similar problem. Fan worked, lights went out. Took light bulbs out, lowered the light fixture. Tested power coming from the ceiling to the quick connect pins for lights. The power was good. So the Problem's in the light kit. Turns out the government requires all new fans to have certain wattage to lights, set at 190. So 3 60w bulbs or 4 40w. Inside the light kit is a limitor hooked to the black power wire coming from the quick connect,It is smaller wire and mine was pink into limitor and white coming out. Not very big. This went bad so i called Hunter, sending new light kit, but I just wired straight black to black wire bypassed that limitor and lights work fine
Check lamp ,,may be faulty

The problem is with the controller in the fan. The controller will effect the fan light and/ or effect the fan speed, both will not respond to the remote. So, here's the resolution, contact the "King of Fans" who has the contract for Hampton Bay. The number is 800.749.3267 to order a new controller for about 43.00. Hope this helps.
SOURCE: remote controlled ceiling fan
unplug the fan then remove the batteries from the remote then plug the fan back in and, reinstall the batteries; this resets the fan control

The Remote (TRANSMITTER) control AND the RECEIVER must both be set to the same CODE in order for the REMOTE to operate the fan.
!!WARNING!! YOU ARE ABOUT TO ENTER HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRICITY ZONE!!
The RECEIVER is located in the CANOPY, the part of the fan assembly next to the ceiling which is also called the Hanger Bracket.
At the bottom of the Canopy you will see what looks like a large flat washer. Rotate the washer counter-clock wise to release it.
Then rotate the Canopy counter-clock wise to release and lower it. You will see the RECEIVER, which will have a short antenna at one end, tucked in among the electrical wire and bracket. Simply pull the RECEIVER out and you will see the CODE switches. Remember to set both devices to the same CODE.
Good luck. :)
SOURCE: fan stopped working and light now only works on pull chain
there should be a remote inside of the fan that probably went bad
