I recently bought a dome top bird cage from Petco that was a breeze to assemble. I will send you the like, as well as a few more so that you can have a broader selection.

How many toys should be in my bird's cage at a time?

The amount of toys varies according to the size of the cage. You will need to ensure that there is enough room in the cage for your bird to extend its wings and move freely. I would recommend using between 3-4 toys at a time. Keep in mind that it is a good idea to have extra toys set aside and to rotate them to keep your bird from becoming bored.

Is it ok to buy a used bird cage?

The problem with purchasing used cages, whether online or from an antique shop, is that there is no way of knowing whether or not the cage has been repaired/repainted with potentially harmful materials.

When it comes to bird cages, why is size so important?

Cage size is a very crucial element in regards to proper bird care. The tail of your bird should never touch the back or bottom of the cage when sitting on their perch. A very general rule to follow is that the width of the cage should be at least 1-1/2 times as wide as your bird's wingspan. Keep in mind that it is not just your bird(s) inhabiting the cage but you will need a perch and most likely some toys. My personal recommendation is to buy the largest cage you can afford.

What size cage should I buy for my budgies?

Even though budgies are quite small, they are very active and need space to fly around and exercise. Budgies need a minimum cage size of 18"x18"x24". Here is a sizing chart that should answer any questions regarding bird species and cage size, along with particular suggested brands of cages to buy.

Is it ok to use a color-coated bird cage?

Some manufacturers design cages with a colored finish; however I do not recommend them. Birds will eventually gnaw the finish off. If you are set on buying a powder coated bird cage then I recommend the following site - http://www.birdcagesgalore.com/bird_cages_017.htm
