My camera lens is stuck open(ish), how can I fix this?

Whilst taking pictures I tried to zoom then I got the error, "Lens error", but switching off and on again sorted that. But after taking pictures I switched it off that the lens would now not go in completely. It is almost in and stuck. Switching it off (eventually) and on again makes no difference, but when it is on the lens still works, but everything is way out of focus, unuseable. Anyone know how to fix this? Help!

SOURCE: Lens Error - Cool Pix L6 - Camera unuseable

Dont know if this will help anyone. I had a lens error for ages. In my long lasting devotion to google serk I found that many equall contenders found that a strike with a soft book in different directiions solved the problem. I ended up beating the camera from all angles with the palm of my hand. But hey! it worked. 4 months later im looking for the cure to system error 2. If you can help wi that one.

SOURCE: Nikon S200 Lens stuck inside

I had the same issue with my S210, so after reading other people's advice to send it in to Nikon and since that was going to probably cost me as much as the camera itself I figured it wouldn't hurt to try a little something. The lens on mine was a hair off center or had been pushed in on one side (barely - looking at yours you may be able to tell which side) - mine was in my purse also. So, I took my handy dandy skinny prying instrument (normal kitchen butter knife) took the battery out to make it try to open again, then when I popped the battery in as the lens tried to push out I pried the side I thought was a little lower back towards center...I heard a little pop and it worked! The lens came all of the way out and it's all good.

So, use gentle hands and try if you want, but don't think I warranty this!

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced.

Camera indicates "zoom error". You can look at pictures already taken but can't take anymore. AND we are in Hawaii

zoom error indicates a problem in the lens mechanism, Its either stuck or there may be sand in there.. Is it extending all out? does it go back in? Sorry but the only solution to this is either to tap it on the side or take it to a professional who can do the cleaning inside or fix broken parts.

Camera will not take pictures. Message on screen says: System Error Zoom I have not had any problems with zoom. How do I fix or clear this message. Thanks, Marsha

Please follow the steps:
1. Ensure batteries are fully charged.
2. Look carefully between the lens and the camera body for any sand, dirt or any damaged etc.
3. Try turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge anything stuck
4. Try removing batteries and memory card, wait 5 minutes and refit the battery only.
5. Now turn on camera( with out card ) and see ,if working then fix the memory card & again turn on the camera. If working then fine.

Otherwise format the memory card and fix back in camera again & try. Make sure before format the memory card take a back up all photos in your computer then format. If no luck then reset or restore the camera setting by pressing Menu key for 2 sec... in not done the press both Menu & self time key for 2 - 4 sec.

After all of this if you not success then its a lens error. The lens stuck from the inside becasue the lens guide pin is damaged or out of guide line. In this case you have to replace or repair the camera lens.

Fuji Zoom Error Message

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.
