The pictures on the screen don't have the real colours anymore. For example: a face has mixed colours: green, blue, black etc and the colours keep changing all the time. As a result you hardly see it is a face.
Just buy an other remote control The internal printed circuit board of the remote control is cracked.
I don't think that is the problem. The problem remains when I manual set the TV on.

Issue of this kind can result from bugs in the software/firmware and can be resolved by upgrading your
recorder with the latest software (V1.61). You can find the download
and the included installation instructions in this page.

push the vol up and then the vol down on the side of the tv or ch up then ch down, the set is stuck in a factory mode, this will clear it.
·Stand within operating range of the Insignia TV, then aim the remote at the TV's receiver and press the "Lock" button on the remote control.
· Aim the remote at the TV and press the channel buttons to make sure the TV is unlocked. When the TV is locked, it shows a black screen and does not allow you to view anything else. If the screen remains black, press the "Lock" button again. If this doesn't work, change the batteries in the remote and start over at step
