with some of the sound man drivers for motherboard chipsets it gives a BSOD error. blue screen of death. to fix this in the quikest manner i would install a pci sound card and install this one instead of the on board sound.
I work with these boards and since the ports are on board, your best bet is to go straight to Intel for this one. And, yes, drivers are free. I've never paid for a driver and have downloaded many.

Or get another sound card and have someone install it for you and load the driver. again, If you have the driver for that old sound card, remove and install it again.If the sound card is on the mother board, go to the manufacture and download the driver.
