Hello and Welcome to FixYa!

Paper jam
means their may be small bit paper jam in side

There are some "micro-sensors" that detect a paper jam. There will be tiny piece of paper, or a lump of dust, inside those sensors, thus "tripping" the sensor and saying you paper jam.

To solve it
Open printer cover and check to make sure no paper or foreign objects obstructing the printer feeder

If you become sure that now really there is no paper, dust or foreign objects then
Turn the printer off, and disconnect the AC power-cable. Open the printer cover & now give the printer a "blow-job" by compressed air.
If still problem exist then best & final option is to just contact to any Canon Printers service provider.

I hope this solution helps you

Tried to print and it says remove paper jam and press start, tried that several times, put more paper in, powered off and it stil says paper jam...opened it up and no paper i can see thats jammed..

Paper jams can be tricky to solve. The paper is usually stuck inside the printer mechanism so even if there is no visible paper jam, you will still get the paper jam error. Try this:

1. Turn off your printer
2. Open all trays and remove any paper stuck there
3. Locate the button to open the printer, open it and remove any paper stuck there also.
4. Repeate the above step for all buttons that you can find to access the inside of the printer
5. Close all doors and put back all trays
6. Turn on your printer

The printer keeps saying that there is a paper jam, but there is no paper jam! I disconnected it, fiddled with the encoder strip, plugged back in .. still same message.

Try opening up the back of the printer, usually paper jams are visible from the front when you open up your printer, but on some rare occaisions the paper can be stuck between rolling pins and to see that you must open the back of it by where the power cord is

The problem is a paper jam

If it says there is a paper jam and there is no paper jamed. Then try opening and closing any compartments on the printer, this resets faults like a "paper Jam".
