Hello. If you're shooting in Auto mode and you have turned off the flash, your camera will remember that setting and the flash will not fire. If you switch the dial on top of your camera to another mode and then back to auto it should clear the setting and the flash should now fire, if needed. The other thing to try is to hold down the the flash popup/mode button while, at the same time, turning the rear control dial. You can watch your top display and the flash modes should cycle through different options.
you didn't give enough information about the problem or when did it start. try the follow:check that the battery lid is closed properly - in many of those cameras it doesnt always close as it should. try to connect it to a computer and see if something happens. it is possible that the camera does work but the screen is for some reason turned off.
hi
your camera has system error, usually the lens unit doesn't reset after taking picture. it cause error message. you should contact to nikon service center and ask them repair cost. usually they will tell on the phone.
thanks and best regard!
hi
your camera is kind of getting old but it is still great. some people really like it. personally I like also.
however, fuji finepix f810 has little problem like yours due to delicate design. on your flash problem could has two sequence check. first is flash circuit defective or flash tube defective. second is main pcb doesn't work properly with flash function. your local repair shop would charge around $75 to 185.
Fuji camera usually charge more than other brand. I am sorry that you know.
Good luck with you and best regard.
It sounds like the flash tube itself blew out. This could be due to a number of things, from the age of the unit, to the electronics, to a defect or mistake in production.
Another reason could be using a flash that is not dedicated to your type of camera. Flash trigger voltages differ between make and model creating many incompatibilities.
Without more info, I cannot suggest what flash would be best for you. Sorry.
You can goto yahoo groups and find a group for your kind of camera. Ask other members what they suggest for your camera, budget and what you do with your camera.
Pls check your camera settings. Your shutter may be set to 10" (meaning 10 seconds). That is probably also why your pop up flash does not go up... because it feels that it will already get over-exposed pics.
To check if it is not a hardware problem, change your settings to Auto and try to shoot in a dark room.

Mine does the exact same thing but I just pop it open manually when I need it. The great thing is that unless you have a very dark night shot you can pretty much shoot with out it, but don't be afraid to pop it out manually. It will close again!
